This scale 25-27 is absolutely perfect for this guitar for my hands. A lot more comfortable than a straight scale 8 and it feels smaller in the hands. Action could be SLIGHTLY lower but then the buzz problems would only heighten so I think they got it pretty much perfect…The instrument is simply inspiring to play. You know when Steve Vai says 'When I picked it up it didn't feel like a 6 string guitar with a 7th string. It felt like a 7 string guitar'… well this statement rings true here. This feels like an '8 string guitar' and when playing it feels really natural.

I don't normally do this, but I wanted to let you know how very, very impressed I am the 8 String Agile Renaissance I recently purchased. The build quality and tone are amazing and in line with guitars costing hundreds more. Truthfully, I was in the market to try something new and find that instrument that would hold my interest for a lifetime of enjoyment. This guitar is it. I would've never considered fanned frets (which I actually find EASIER to play) nor an 8 string, had this affordable option not been available. I think that sometimes there's an enjoyment factor to creating music that gets lost in the technology and brand, and the monetary commitment that results from it.
You've offered an affordable instrument that holds huge value in quality and fun, and kept my interest in guitar playing alive, and I appreciate that.
Thank you!
Greg
Hello Kurt,
My Renaissance Acoustic 8 String guitar arrived yesterday - and I love it!
After reading several reviews and watching several video demonstrations of the guitar, in addition to your helpful responses, I expected a nice guitar. But this guitar far exceeded my expectations. It is a great guitar. I had trouble putting it down last night; I just wanted to keep playing for hours.
I was also pleasantly surprised that it was set up nicely, with low action. The guitar sounds full and well rounded, and is comfortable to play. It's also a visually beautiful instrument. (I got the "Flame" version of it). I looked the guitar over in my very picky way - and it was flawless. Very nice finish and woods, with the spruce top and mahogany sides and back. The onboard tuner is a very a cool and convenient feature. I am looking forward to checking out the preamp and equalizer with my amp today.
I am very pleased with the guitar, and my whole experience with you and Rondo Music. The case is also nice, as well as absolutely necessary.
I have been wanting an 8-string guitar for a while now. I knew I could do a lot with the versatility provided by an 8-string guitar, both for myself and for the groups I play with. But I could not spend $3,000 or so to get one. Nor did I want a cheap guitar of mediocre quality. I just assumed that an 8 string guitar of quality worth having - especially a multiscale fan fret - would never be available to me - until I discovered Rondo Music.
I am grateful that you and Rondo Music made available to me a wonderful guitar of very good quality, at an affordable price. I expect to play and enjoy it, both solo and with others, for many, many years to come.
I will be ordering several sets of those acoustic Cepheus strings now!
Thanks again, Kurt, for your help and patience - and for, ultimately, making this great guitar available. I wish you and Rondo Music great success always.
All the best, Diana Diana McFadden
Question: What are the benefits of a pre-amp and 3 band equalizer?
Answer: The pre-amp and 3 band equalizer give you access to certain frequencies that can help shape your sound on the move without going to your amp or pedal board. This is ideal for when you are playing live. They open a big range of tones and allow precise control while you boost your highs, mids, and lows.
Question: What is the advantage of playing a multi-scaled guitar?
Answer:
The multi-scale provides the advantage of having a longer scale length for the lower strings and a shorter scale length for the higher strings. When bass strings have a longer scale, you can achieve a snappier, brighter, and clearer tone. When the treble strings have a shorter scale they produce an inherently warmer, mellower tone.
This makes for a tonally balanced instrument. Straight scale instruments tend to suffer from drawbacks: extended scale instruments' high notes can sound shrill and piercing and short scale instruments' low notes can sound muddy. The multi-scale system allows for a "bost of both worlds" approach.
Question: I received my guitar and there is some fret buzz. What do I do?
Answer: Your guitar was set up and buzz free when it was shipped. However the neck may have moved during shipment. This video should help: Set Up Tips.
Question: What is your return policy for this item?
Answer: See our detailed policy by clicking on "Return Policy" on the right side of the home page.
Question: Where is the Agile Renaissance made?
Answer: Agile guitars are made in South Korea and Vietnam.
